Overall Review (No spoilers):
I know my likes/dislikes are conflicting, but I think the story was really good. I read it quickly and wanted to see how it progressed (potentially because I knew the series got better so I just tried to get through it). Overall the reading is a breeze, where it falls short- it feels like every other book. It reminded me of so many things; Twilight (Stephanie Meyer), The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins), and even freaking Descendants (Disney TV Movie Series). I loved the original aspects of the story but it started falling apart when I would think “This is literally that one part in Twilight,” etc. However, I read the entire series* over 1800 pages in two weeks. So, please stick with it because it gets so so SO good.
